Ron DeSantis’ Statement on Today’s Record Job Numbers

Ron DeSantis’ Statement on Today’s Record Job Numbers

Orlando, Fla. – The U.S. Department of Labor today released its hiring and unemployment figures for October, exceeding analysts’ expectations and continuing to show the record pace that our economy is on. Thanks to Republican tax-cuts, which Ron DeSantis voted for and President Donald Trump signed, combined with Republican pro-growth policies on the state level, Florida’s economy is in a perfect position to continue this upward momentum and create opportunity for all Floridians.

Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Ron DeSantis released the following statement:

“Today’s job numbers show our country’s economy is booming like never before. Last month, businesses created 250,000 private sector jobs, massively exceeding expectations. Americans’ wages grew at the fastest rate in a decade. Our unemployment rate is at a 50-year low, and the Hispanic unemployment hit another all-time low. My opponent, Andrew Gillum, wants to reverse our momentum with massive tax increases, which would be devastating for our state. As Governor, I will make sure we build on our economic momentum by keeping taxes low, boosting wages and creating more jobs for Floridians.”

Today’s Jobs Report shows:

  • The U.S. added 250,000 jobs in October, exceeding analysts’ expectations
  • Maintained a national 50-year low unemployment rate of 3.7 percent
  • Achieved an 18-year high for consumer confidence
  • Reached a record 100-month streak of straight hiring

For the last quarter (July-September), the U.S.:

  • Achieved highest growth in consumer spending for the last four years
  • Expanded the economy by an annual rate of 3.5 percent
  • Saw a 3.1 percent increase in wages and salaries from the previous year, the best growth in a decade
  • All of this growth has occurred while maintaining steady and sustainable inflation

Particularly good news for minority groups:

  • Hispanic unemployment dropping to a record low
  • Black Americans still experiencing historic lows in unemployment
  • Maintaining decades-low rate in unemployment for women

ICYMI: President Trump Recognizes Ron DeSantis for His Work to Clean Up Florida’s Water

ICYMI: President Trump Recognizes Ron DeSantis for His Work to Clean Up Florida’s Water

Orlando, Fla. – In case you missed it, during his rally in Southwest Florida last night, President Donald Trump recognized Republican Candidate for Governor Ron DeSantis for his role in passing America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, which included the authorization of the reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee.

“Rick and Ron also worked closely with us to pass legislation to build a reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee – that was an expensive one – to clean Florida’s water. That’s a big one,” said President Trump of DeSantis & Governor Rick Scott.

Clean water has been a top priority for DeSantis who has been endorsed by the Everglades Trust for his strong position on the issue.

“As Governor, I will work with the President and his administration to make sure we get the resources we need to clean our water and our rivers and protect our way of life here in the State of Florida,” said DeSantis.

Casey DeSantis Visits Tampa School, Vows to Protect Choice Scholarships

Casey DeSantis Visits Tampa School, Vows to Protect Choice Scholarships

Orlando, Fla. – Today, Casey DeSantis, wife of Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis, visited the St. Peter Claver Catholic School in Tampa. Mrs. DeSantis toured the school, met with students and teachers, and spoke about the importance of choice scholarships.

“St. Peter Claver Catholic School is a testament to how innovative education policies can truly change the lives of children and their families,” said Casey DeSantis.  “St. Peter Claver has more than 150 students, many of them African-American and all of them from families with limited means, that are now excelling in a great learning environment thanks to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship program.  This program empowers low-income parents to choose the best learning environment for their children—just like parents of greater means do.”

“My husband, Ron DeSantis, will protect these students’ scholarships and defend these parents’ right to send their child to a school where they can excel,” continued Casey DeSantis.  “Andrew Gillum has said that he will bring this program and others like it ‘to a conclusion.’ That is shameful and wrong.  He should look these students and parents in the eye and tell them why he thinks they don’t deserve the opportunity to choose a learning environment that works for them.”

“Public education doesn’t exist to serve the interests of bureaucrats and unions – it exists to equip every child with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue their dreams and maximize their own potential. Empowering families will always be the focus of Ron DeSantis as Governor,” concluded Casey DeSantis.

Florida Police Chiefs Association Endorses Ron DeSantis for Governor

Florida Police Chiefs Association Endorses Ron DeSantis for Governor

Orlando, Fla. – The Ron DeSantis for Governor Campaign today announced the Florida Police Chiefs Association has endorsed DeSantis.  The endorsement by the Florida Police Chiefs Association builds on the significant support DeSantis has garnered from the law enforcement community, including endorsements from the Police Benevolent Association, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association and numerous sheriffs from across the State of Florida.

“Florida Police Chiefs want a Governor who supports law enforcement, the principles of the association and will protect our communities,” said Amy Mercer, executive director of the Florida Police Chiefs Association. “The FPCA proudly supports Congressman Ron DeSantis for Governor. As a former prosecutor, he understands the sacrifice our law enforcement officers make when they put on their uniforms every day.”

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the Florida Police Chiefs Association,” said DeSantis. “Throughout my career, whether in the military, as a prosecutor or in Congress, I have always supported the brave men and women of our law enforcement community. Floridians deserve a Governor who will stand up for our heroes who work every day to protect us.”

“Unfortunately, my opponent, Andrew Gillum, has signed a pledge saying police and prisons have no place in our state, which is as dangerous as it is despicable,” said DeSantis.  “As Governor, I will always stand with our law enforcement and support them in their mission to keep Florida safe.”
